June 2012-Summer 2013, Rauma, Finland
Making "Personal Soil" out of our body waste. In the theme of the exhibition "HUMAN NATURE", I prepared 12 compost starter kits and set up corresponding gardening boxes in the courtyard of the museum. During the Biennale period, interested visitors could take home a compost starter kit, collect their own solid body waste and ferment it using charcoal and microorganisms. They would then bring it to the museum for the workshop. In total, 8 participants carried through with collecting their waste at home and returing for the composting workshop. Each mixed their own materials with soil to begin the decomposing process, which will complete in the next year 2013.
