Little Red Riding Hood

October 2007, Chantier Public, Lyon, France

The goal of this project was to traverse the city without knowing in advance my destinations, by following a series of directions from each person to the next. The process began by visiting with a local woman, who showed me how to bake a cake. We baked a cake together at her house and she sent me to her friend's house with the cake. The second woman baked another cake with me and instructed me to bring it to another friend of hers, an endless chain. Nine local women participated with me. The chain was made visible in an installation consisting of a photo series, an audio recording of my diary, which I read in French, and a map of my route through Lyon made out of cake.
